Our Library
All Kindergarten through Fifth grade students visit the Portola library weekly. At the library they can enjoy the growing variety of books available. Using Destiny to find books available at our library, and A.R. Book Finder to learn a book's level and point value is a smart, efficient way to obtain titles you will enjoy! Explore Destiny and A.R. Book Finder from your classroom, home, and at the Portola library! To celebrate the joy and advantages of reading, the Portola Library sponsors a variety of literacy events through the school year. Book trades, AR Superstars displays, story walks, family literacy nights, Stop, Drop & Read, read-a-thon, character dress-up days... to name a few. The Portola Library Assistant Society consists of 4th and 5th grade students who love all things reading! Members of the Society help with the care and nurturing of our library. Any day of the week you will find them sorting, shelving, labeling and displaying books. All the while, happily making mental notes of the books they will read next! Academic Media Resources The Portola media center is available to all classes for project research and development, typing and internet skills enhancement, academic games, author web sites, reading lists, and more!
